Quentin Bryce, the Governor-General of Australia, is making a state visit to Malta on November 14 and 15. This will be the first state visit to Malta by an Australian Governor-General.

Sworn in as Australia’s 25th Governor-General in September, Dr Bryce was the first woman to take up the office. She is a pioneer in contemporary Australian society and has had a rich and distinguished career as an academic, lawyer, community and human rights advocate, senior public officer, university college principal, and most recently Governor of Queensland.

During her visit, she will meet the President, the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition. Her programme includes the laying of a wreath at Pietà Military Cemetery, where there are the highest number of Australian war graves in Malta.
