Siena are trying to tempt Brazilian striker Ronaldo back to Serie A with a pay-per-goal deal, club president Giovanni Lombardi Stronati has said.
The 32-year-old free agent has been on a rehabilitation programme at Brazilian side Flamengo since August and has almost fully recovered from a career-threatening knee injury he suffered playing for AC Milan in February.
"(Signing Ronaldo) is an idea we are working on," Lombardi Stronati, whose side are three points above the Serie A relegation zone in 13th place, was quoted as saying by today's La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"They tell me he's really thinking of retiring, but I'd like to offer him another chance.
"I've spoken to his manager and proposed a contract of 100,000 euros per goal. Ronaldo's goals could save Siena."
