PN remembers George Borg Olivier

Prime Minister George Borg Olivier continues to be remembered for the independence he obtained for Malta in 1964 even though he has been dead for 28 years.

Marking the anniversary of his death yesterday, the Nationalist Party said Dr Borg Olivier understood that independence was not only an achievement in itself, but a catalyst for the island.

This was proven in the subsequent years with a boost to the country's infrastructure and the beginning of the manufacturing and tourism industries.

Dr Borg Olivier believed politics was a noble mission, which he directed towards the sovereignty and development of the country and always treated his adversary with respect and courtesy in observance of absolute democracy and liberty, the PN said.

DR GEORGE BORG OLIVIER is one of Malta's greatest Prime Ministers - His noble, gentle, unassuming, and humble personality should be a shining example to others who would like to think that they are politicians !! I wonder whether this unique political leader would be happy with how things are being run now on his (and indeed our) dear Malta, the Malta he loved so much? I wonder..... !!!
