I write in support of the two readers who have complained in The Times about Melita Cable's rip-offs of its subscribers.
I am subscribed to digital cable television. First of all they bound me to subscribe for a minimum of 15 months, to which I strongly objected.
I should be allowed to stop the service when I feel I am getting a raw deal from Melita Cable. In their way of doing business, Melita can lump all sorts of garbage channels without me being able to retaliate about it during a whole 15-month period. This is an unfair, egoistic attitude on the part of Melita.
Now I eagerly wait for these 15 months to pass - then it will be my turn to dictate matters between me and Melita Cable!
I have a second complaint, aired by many subscribers in the local press. From the 51 channels they boast of giving us, there are very few indeed (about nine) that interest me; the other 42 are completely useless for me.
Hence, I am paying for services which I never use at all. How long is it going to be before Melita Cable deals with this unfair treatment of its subscribers?
