Strina funds distributed
The €1,164,000 collected during last year’s Istrina have been presented to the beneficiaries in a ceremony presided over by President Eddie Fenech Adami.
Dr Fenech Adami chairs the Community Chest Fund which received half the sum collected.
The other 10 beneficiaries were the Arka Respite Centre, the Augustine Sisters Servants of Jesus and Mary, Ejjew Ghandi, Dar Saura, the Eden Foundation, Fondazzjoni Suret il-Bniedem, the Ghaqda Persuni Neqsin mis-Smigh, the Gozo CCU Monitors Foundation, Puttino Cares and the YMCA Homeless Shelter.

Why should people come before animals?
they have every right just as much as you do. I just wonder if you were a dog how would you feel. Should we reason ' l-ewwel niekol jien u jekk nixba naghti lilek'
If I am not mistaken, a very small sum should have been contributed to the animal welfare. we are almost in 2009 and there are no places where an animal can get treated if in need.'
Only those volunteers are doing their best to help these defenseless animals because people like you believe that people come first.

PEOPLE come first before animals.
Sorry, there are not enough funds for people, but if there are then I wholeheartedly agree.

a.sciberras is perfectly right. Nowadays I just give my donation directly to the animal charity of my choosing. I am not interested in winning anything in any case.

Why are funds distributed a year later?
Who is getting the interests?
Are they added to the funds?

One question: Why is Dar tal-Providenza of Siggiewi never a beneficiary of the Strina? Surely DTP qualifies as perhaps the most loved Maltese charity organisation and needs more funds than most of the others who are benefitting.
