Part of the Coast Road from the Naxxar Road T Junction to the bend before the Coastline Hotel (a distance of some 500m) was at the time covered with an oil slick which was actually the cause of the accident when the jeep lost traction, spinning around and hit the front end of the Bus with the rear end of the jeep. Both the Jeep and the Bus were extensively damaged. The Bus with a flat tyre on the drivers side and the front area of that corner of the bus missing. The rear end of the jeep with the door missing.
The fire department were quickly on the scene to cover the oil slick and thus averting many more cars spinning off on this busy road.
None of the passengers appeared to be hurt.
