As warden of the Wignacourt Tower in St Paul's Bay I would like to apologise to Volker Schwan (October 25) for finding the tower closed on October 21. Unfortunately the volunteer who had to open the tower that day had to fly to the UK for health reasons and did not make it in time to update the notice at the entrance and helpline. Din l-Art Ħelwa depends much on volunteers who are doing a great job to open the tower on a regular basis but unfortunately such mishaps happen.

Regarding the booklet about the tower entitled Wignacourt 400 Years And Its Link With The Chapel Of St Paul, I have contacted the distributor to see to the matter and he assured me that all leading book sellers should be stocked. Din l-Art Ħelwa has recently restored the statue of St Paul on St Paul's Island and is now planning to restore the Għajn Razul Fountain in the Tal-Veċċa area.

Before concluding, I would like to apologise again for the inconvenience created to Mr Schwan and appeal to him or anyone else who has our history at heart to help Din l-Art Ħelwa to open the tower on a more regular basis. Thank you.
