Why not srap this farce of a eurovision song contest which has passed its sell by date and instead of wasting tax payers money put in a kitty for the people that are or will be coming unemployed in the coming days before Xmas and also especially to the once that as i read everyday are on a short working week - no overtime, sackings etc/, etc., even the factories shutting down or due to shut down due to this somber economic climate wround the globe.Fortunitly Malta is just haveing a tast of whats comeing but i think next year it will be a different story when the lack of tourists will start to be felt in the hotel and catering business.

Dear J,Hatman, Yes most of us Maltese or i should say 90% of us Maltese agree with you entirely,But try telling that to the malta song board or the tourist board, its hard to crack a nut until the bubble burst for the third and final time . No wonder the tax revenue has increased and no doubt will increase more in the budget just to pay for something thats not in us anymore. My prediction will be that Malta will sink Again next time wround and some eastern country or NON european as in eurovision will win.All those people that have a different opinion or differ from my prediction please pay my share of taxes and save me the burden and embarressment

I'm sorry but i have to say that the Maltese are now for the third time flogging a dead horse and should pull out like the Brave Italians and save their money and put it into maybe a better use and help the low paid and the pensioners this christmas., like wise my country in the low countries should do the same as we got no chance against the eastern countries now they started the ball rolling. However i do hope that if a song is choosen the letter :V: is not a primery letter as in the previous attempt by Vertigo or Vodka No Viagra please!!! LOL. Good Luck anyway. Jannie.

Same old faces... Same old farce of a festival!
The irony is that Malta's one true talent, Kevin Borg, is currently in the middle of a battle with Sweden's eight best singers on Swedish Idol.

I Am Sorry to read the first two comments on the article which speak negatively on such an important music festival. It is the oldest festival in Europe and it would be a travesty if Malta does not take part. We would not showcase our talent, because "investing" in Maltese Music will not be wise considering that I do not like any Maltese band except for one which I will not name.

I wonder why we continue to provide the money for the participants to take part in this sham festival where politics and neighbors rule supreme rather than the capacity of the singers and the song writers.
We should stop this circus and those who want to take part should pay the expenses themselves.

Maltasong 2009... yet another year of wasted money on a useless festival! Money which could be spent wisely on TRULY (and i repeat) TRULY fruitful areas of the Maltese music scene!
