Catch them on film
We read a lot of letters in this newspaper about bus drivers and their silly behaviour. May I point out that bus drivers may not be aware of what is written about them.
I have an idea! Nowadays every man, woman and child passenger has a mobile phone with photo and video capability at the ready. Start recording such antics in sound and wonderful colour and download to YouTube so that one can see them at work on the buses.
Shock tactics could be the answer to solve this problem, so go on citizens - start recording and start downloading under the heading Maltese Bus Drivers. I look forward to seeing some of your masterpieces.

Actually, if one types "malta bus", on youtube, one can find a couple of incidents already, including the bus strike shenanigans, apart from one featured on a clip called "crazy malta bus driver", whose only english seems to be "full up, full up". The hilarious bit is when he realises that his flies are undone. What a service!! I'm glad that I work abroad now, and that I don't subsidise these people anymore. The day these examples of Malta's insularity are taught some manners, will be one of the best days of my life. I'm afraid that for most of them, unfortunately, hell will freeze over before they learn the meaning of "customer service".

I am an old man from Malta that has only lived 20 years of his life in Malta.
Yet I seem to care of what goes on more than many people on the islands.
I admire all the new modern developments in Malta.....Hotels & so on.
But , when in Malta , I am surprised to see people not complaining of the bus service......
Dangerous fumes of the old buses ( some I remember from the 1960's ).
Bus drivers that seem a law to themselves....behaving like "captains of the ship".
One , I nick-named " High-Noon Boy scout " , taking corners on two wheels while his radio was blustering country music.
A gentleman , while getting off , hissed at him.....Hmar !!!
"High-Noon Boy Scout " took it a a compliment..
I'll cut it short.....a decent comfortable bus service would eliminate many cars from the roads.....to go working / shopping a few miles away ?
I'd bet my last penny that a different bus service would attract many more visitors
It does surprise me that whoever in power does not see this. I'd bet my last penny ,even bus drivers, would become more cheerful.

One small but important correction. One does not download to the internet but one uploads to the internet - while one downloads to the computer. So one uploads to Youtube not downloads.

I actually took a photo of a bus driver with a mobile phone clamped to his ear with his hand whilst attempting to turn across a major road and several lanes of traffic. He was easily identifiable. I sent it to the authorities. It was never even acknowledged.
Your idea makes a lot of sense, but it will be about as effective as me writing this!
What Malta needs is a bus company run along the lines of a commercial company, for example, where such behaviour is not accepted and the drivers have to be nice to the customers. Failure to comply would mean being dismissed. Those who wanted the job would soon learn and those that didn't would soon leave.
You will, however, realise that this will never happen. It's like all other problems in Malta, from the disgraceful shacks around Valletta entrance, chairs covering the streets and illegal immigrants. No-one has the inclination to do a proper job to solve these issues on a permanent basis.
