Anton Agius: Fine artist, humble man (2)

The president, committee, members and helpers of the Għaqda Filantropika Talent Mosti were deeply saddened by the news of the passing to eternal life of Anton Agius, referred to many as l-iskultur nazzjonali, an honorary member and very good friend of Talent Mosti.

As a teacher, Mr Agius helped many of his students develop their artistic talents. He is very well known for the numerous artistic monuments spread all over the island. Talent Mosti has the honour of having his works at Ir-Razzett tal-Markiż, Ċentru ta' Kultura Nazzjonali. In the central courtyard we have two busts that were sculptured by Mr Agius , one of Daniel Micallef and another of Frans Baldacchino, il-Budaj. We also have a bronze bust of Mr Agius, by Monica Spiteri, which was unveiled in April. Talent Mosti took this initiative to show Mr Agius the appreciation he deserved during his lifetime.

Talent Mosti hosted two of Mr Agius's exhibitions, one in 2001 and another in 2004. He also participated in other exhibitions by various artists. Mr Agius was a regular visitor to Ir-Razzett, as a guest during cultural events, and also as the guest of honour for official openings of artistic exhibitions.

Talent Mosti will always remember Mr Agius as a humble, honest and sincere gentleman and it will sincerely miss his presence at Ir-Razzett.

To his wife and son, our deepest condolences.
