Cassola to contest EP election
Alternattiva Demokratika chairman Arnold Cassola will be running for the forthcoming European Parliament elections on the Greens' ticket along with political newcomer Yvonne Ebejer Arqueros.
The names were chosen through a secret ballot at the party's annual general meeting yesterday.
The AD chairman had narrowly missed being elected in Malta's first local EP election in 2004, when he polled around 23,000 first preference votes. He was general secretary of the European Green Party at the time and had been at the forefront of AD's campaign in favour of EU membership.
Ebejer Arqueros, 44, is a primary school teacher and mother of three who is also involved with social work agencies voluntarily.

@ Randolph Bugeja
Your capricious allegations about Arnold Cassola would possibly have some remote footing IF Arnold had resigned from the Maltese parliament to represent Italian expats in Italy.
Did you follow the interventions he did in the Italian parliament - and how many of them directly affected Malta?
I am sure that if anyone from tal-Pieta' had the personal qualities and the opportunity to contest another EU member state parliamentary election - they would shy away, as they would be unable to use the PN party machine to sabotage their political adversaries.
And if we sought so much to have 6 MEPs – wouldn’t it be good to have another 26 Maltese nationals in each member state’s parliaments – or in the US Congress or Russian Duma for that matter…… after all Flimkiem Kollox Possibli (ghal ta’ gewwa ghalanqas)!

Oh dear!
2 more for GonziPN predators and strategists.
I pray to God to give you both (Arnold and Yvonne) the strength and stamina to survive the hypocrisy of the blue-eyed boys.

@J Borg: Any 'free-thinking' person would be questioning what commitment Cassola has towards Malta when he seems eager to contest any election which is available. I once thought that AD stood for a modern way of politics.
But then the AD apologists seem to be no less gullible than supporters of the other political parties.

MR CLAUDE CALLEJA DON'T TRY TO PULL LEGS! I BELIEVE ARNOLD CASSOLA IS A VERY VALID PERSON. I'M NOT AD VOTER BUT I'M SURE HE DESERVES A SEAT IN EP... MUCH MORE VALID THEN OTHERS WHO ARE ALREADY THERE REPRESENTING PN!!.

Best of Luck to Arnold Cassola and Yvonne Ebejer. Hope this country gives itself a well deserved representation by electing people in the European Parliament from the three parties (PN, MLP and AD). The more MEPs we have in different European alliances, the better it is for us as a country.

No Mr. Claude Calleja,
As you are well aware & also a tiny participant in it,
it's a reminder that GonziPN are again concerned about AD's nibbling their status, and thus are launching another Christian & Democratic campaign against a valuable person like Arnold Cassola.
All I can tell you is keep it up - since by now most of the 'free-thinking' voters can now see through PN's vile agenda!

Is this a small reminder that there isn't a general election in Italy?
