Obituary
BUHAGIAR. On October 23, at Mater Dei Hospital, FRANS of Żabbar, residing at Marsascala, aged 65, passed away peacefully to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his sudden loss his wife Mabel, sive Mae, née Cassar, his daughters Therese and her husband Pierre Mizzi and Shirley and her husband Edward Calamatta, his grandchildren Andrew, Gabriel and Daniel, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 8 a.m. for Our Lady of Graces Sanctuary, Żabbar, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Żabbar cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to St Joseph Home, Żabbar, will be appreciated. Thanks go to the staff of SAU Ward, Mater Dei Hospital, for their support. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
D'AMATO. On October 24, TANIA (assistant head, Tarxien school), aged 43. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Greta and Andrew, her mother Carmen and her father Emanuel, her beloved Dione Cassar, her sisters and brothers, Grace and her husband Vince, Joyce and her husband Frans, Cilio and his wife Lorna, her nieces and nephews, Sabrina, Jessica, Antheo, Kurt, Abigail and Kyle, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 8.30 a.m. for Our Lady of Pompei parish church, Marsaxlokk, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at St Leone Cemetery, Żurrieq. Donations to Villa Mgr. Gonzi, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
TONNA. On October 23, at Mater Dei Hospital, Fr CARLO TONNA, OFM, aged 72, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss the Franciscan Community, his sisters Josephine, Pauline, Sister M. Antonia of USA and Maria and her husband Charles Micallef. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 7 a.m. for the Franciscan Friars Convent, Rabat. Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m. at Ta' Ġieżu church, Rabat, followed by interment in the grave of the Franciscan Province at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Ursuline Crèche, Sliema, will be appreciated.

Social fund projects
Organisations can submit proposals for projects dealing with the empowerment of people for more jobs and a better quality of life, which will be funded by the European Social Fund 2007-2013.
Eligible organisations can submit proposals in two areas dealing with investment in employability and adaptability of the workplace and the strengthening of institutional and administrative capacity.
The two have a joint allocation of €22 million.
The proposals have to be submitted by noon on December 15. Application forms and further information can be found on www.ppcd.gov.mt/calls_all.
Candidates can also attend a half-day information session on November 5 between 2 and 5 p.m. and on November 7 between 9 a.m. and noon.
Registration forms for the information sessions may be downloaded from the same website and forwarded to Claire Hollier on claire.hollier@gov.mt by noon on November 3.

Football tournament
A five-a-side football tournament will be held tomorrow by LIFT - Living In Friendship Together, an NGO that assists young people. The tournament, which starts at 9 a.m. at the Qormi hockey grounds, is being held as part of the Football Against Racism In Europe action week.
