Tower Road works 'on schedule'
The Ministry for Resources said today that Tower Road, from the Strand, up to the ex-Joinwell Building in Sliema, is expected to reopen to vehicular traffic on Monday, weather permitting.
The road has been closed for the laying of new services underneath the pavement and resurfacing. The new road wearing course is being laid over the weekend.
Works on the construction of footpaths using porfido material will be carried out between next Monday and December 7, by which date, the project will be completed in its entirety. Vehicular traffic will not be affected by the roadside works although motorists are being urged to proceed with caution, the ministry said.

The upgrading, enhancement and timely execution on the requisite works of this part of Tower road Sliema is most welcome. It is noted that the old narrow pavement has been widened for the convience of the general public.
The authorities should ensure that the pavement should be for the sole use of the public and not, repeat not, for shops to put advertising material or wares outside their premises. Also building contractors heavy vehicles should desist from parking partly on the pavment, ruining the works recently carried out.
