Five arrests in drugs operation

Five men have been arrested after drugs were found in an operation in Paceville last night.

The police said several members of the Drug Squad were involved in monitoring and searches in connection with drug trafficking.

They arrested two 17-year-olds from Hamrun and St Paul’s Bay, a 19-year-old Spaniard, a 31-year-old Libyan resident in San Gwann and a 25-year-old Sudanese resident at Hal Far. They were in possession of cannabis.

The Libyan and the Sudanese are to be arraigned and accused of trafficking Cannabis while the rest will be accused of possession.

And to cap it all there is nearly always one illegal immigrant resident at Hal Far or Marsa open centres!

Why is it that every time the police or the drug squad catch somebody with drugs and or cannabis there is a foreigner involved? I am not making any excuses for Maltese citizens but in most cases it seems that the supplier turns out to be a foreigner. Maybe the Maltese government should keep a better eye on who enters the island. These few foreigners are supplying our youth with drugs and when caught they should be deported immediately after paying a hefty fine.. By the way I would like to congratulate the police and the drug squad for a job well done.
