Malta and Cyprus have agreed to collaborate within the EU on the implementation of the recently signed Immigration and Asylum Pact.
The pact was discussed during talks which Justice and Minister Affairs Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici held in Nicosia with Cypriot Interior Minister Neoclis Syliciotis (picture).
They discussed the repatriation of migrants, agreements between the EU and the countries from which the migrants originate, and burden sharing.
Dr Mifsud Bonnici insisted that the Immigration Pact should remain a priority of the EU even other presidencies.
He also had talks with Justice Minister Kypros Chrsystomides on bilateral cooperation in the area of justice and the police.
