The Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses said this evening that it is planning to order industrial action in all state hospitals and health centres to press the government to recruit more nurses and midwives.

The directives will be announced at a press conference tomorrow.

The union said it could no longer tolerate a situation where its members had to make major sacrifices because of the lack of commitment by the government to increase the nursing workforce.
