To mark the European Day of Civil Justice, the law courts in Valletta, will be open to the public on Sunday to raise awareness that justice is, first and foremost, a service to citizens. In establishing this day, the European Commission and the Council of Europe want citizens to know courts are there to enable them to settle their private disputes and assert their rights.
Civil law is part of daily life for European citizens - at work, getting married, having children or buying goods and services within the single market. However, the public is often unaware of its rights, still less of how civil justice works.
Court will be open between 9.30 a.m. and12.30 p.m. The event will start with Mass celebrated at 9.30 a.m. in the courts' foyer.

A presentation highlighting the functions and procedures of the various courts and tribunals will be delivered in Hall 22 at 10.30 and 11.30 a.m.
