182 entries for Eurosong
The Public Broadcasting Services received 182 entries for the Eurosong 2009 contest, and for the first time in the festival's history 56 of these entries will be given exposure on TVM to promote local talent.
All 56 entries will be issued on a triple CD compilation and will compete in the televised show, Euroshow Box, which is produced by Aceline Entertainment and aired for eight weeks starting on November 8.
The third and final phase of Eurosong 2009 will be held on February 7 at the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre, Ta' Qali, where 20 entries will compete in a one-singer-one-song final.
Just three entries will reach the super final to be held on the same night. There judges will select the three finalists and televoting will then determine the winning entry for May's Eurovision Song Contest in Russia.

Charles DiMicoli has a point. If you are going to have them in English, you might as well invite Britney Spears as her new single hit # 1. Plus she is a Portelli.

Malta null points!
Here is a perdiction - once the song is chosen, everyone will be saying how great it is, how great the singer is, that we have a real chance of winning this year.
After the competition everyone will be saying, how the voting is rigged, we shouldnt have chosen that song, the singer wasnt good on the night.
Can't we just not bother sending anyone and pretend we did, after all the result will be the same - out in the semis, thus saving hundreds of thousands of euros and europe wide embarrasment.
Otherwise forget the televoting, this is just a money spinning exercise for the phone companies and the organisers. Let judges decide the best entry, not just which persoanlity the public like.
Another prediction - Klinnsmann to win the vote - not because he is the best - he wont be by a long shot as he is just a poor copy of the already poor UK teeny boy bands - but because the public will think its his turn.
