The road to a balanced budget
I couldn't agree more with Maria Muscat (Where Are The Law Enforcers, October 16). We must be the worst traffic-law breakers in the whole world. May I draw the attention of our Prime Minister and the Finance Minister, that they are sitting on a gold mine here.
They would easily balance the budget, spare us the crippling electricity tariffs, and at the same time bring some order to our roads if they engaged two dozen traffic policemen to patrol our roads day and night. If they do their job well we will see an improvement in our finances and also some order on our roads.

I doubt if the Wardens are paid a very high wage, so one can not blame them for not wanting to put their life in peril , by facing irate drivers, most of whom would not pass the test in the U.K.

And I ask, Why traffic Policemen and not Local wardens?? The answer is simple, Wardens are there to dish out traffic tickets to unattended vehicles only, they do their utmost not to check other infringements which would make them relate to the offending driver in Person. Come on Local wardens tell us how many vehicles you have stopped and actually spoken to the driver and fined him/her. What about excessive smoke, faulty lights, worn out tyres, throwing rubbish out of car windows, babies and toddlers on the front seat and so on and so on.....
