SmartCity Malta takes pride of place at GITEX Technology Week
A scale model of SmartCity Malta has been given pride of place at the SmartCity stand at the GITEX Technology Expo which has just opened in Dubai.
The GITEX Technology Week is one of the most important ICT and telecommunications exhibitions in the world . Last year’s GITEX saw Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi unveiling the masterplan for SmartCity Malta.
The SmartCity stand, strategically located in the main hall of the World Trade Center in Dubai, was one of the first to be visited by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai.
A delegation from SmartCity Malta, led by CEO Claudio Grech, will do networking sessions from the stand in an effort to attract international companies to Ricasoli.
Traditional Maltese folk dancers also adorn the cover page of the first edition of Connect, the new glossy business magazine published by SmartCity in Dubai.
The aim of the publication is to provide “cutting-edge insights in today’s thought leadership and industry excellence,” according to Ahmad Bin Byat, chairman of SmartCity.
The magazine features an interview with the Minister responsible for IT, Austin Gatt, articles on Malta’s potential in the field of information and communication technology, and a focus on the SmartCity Malta project besides the usual ‘jewel in the Mediterranean’ type of article highlighting Malta’s offering for tourists.
Several Maltese organizations related to technology and business, including the Malta Communications Authority, Malta Enterprise and Crimsonwing, advertise in the magazine.
