Bus service to University
I am a student at the University of Malta. Since the beginning of the new scholastic year, I have been finding it very hard to park in the available parking spaces for students, unless I arrive before 8 a.m.
I do realise that space is a limiting factor; however, the problem could be tackled by the Public Transport Association. I suggest that buses to University should run every half-hour, rather than every hour.
To reduce expenses, the schedule could be such that the half-hourly service is provided during peak hours, say, from 7 to 10 a.m. and from noon to 3 p.m. Also, the public transport to University should be used exclusively by students and University staff (who could be issued with bus passes), because it is also used by visitors to Mater Dei Hospital. This change in schedule should be complemented by an efficient bus service for passengers who do not have alternative transport to the hospital. I, for one, would be willing to use this service; thereby avoiding the daily morning headache of parking and saving on fuel costs.

Can the buses please leave university at 5.15 because workers finish at that time. At the moment they leave at ten past five and many workers are left stranded.

While I agree with the writer of extending bus service to University students, why doesn't the Public Transportation Association consider changing its frequency times to accommodate everyone. Having a fixed daily schedule from 6-9 a.m. that buses would run every 20-30 minutes, would get most students to their classes and University staff to work on time; thus reducing the amount of cars already packing the parking lot daily. Peak hours should be respected from 6-9 a.m. and again from 3-5 p.m. All other times between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. buses could operate on a 45 minute to 60 minute interval (off peak) schedule. Because Mater Dei Hospital is also at the University why not have the last bus finish its route coinciding with Hospital visitation hours. Newer buses and frequency changes may result in greater passenger volume to and from the University.
