I would like to point out to Laurence Mizzi (The Sunday Times, October 12) that I never stated that Mgr Paul Galea left Birgu during the worst days of the war. Indeed I would have been surprised if he had done so because he was duty-bound to remain in his post as archpriest in the most difficult times.

However, this is irrelevant to my argument relating to the ingratitude shown towards the Dominican friars of Birgu.
