Sliema's largest public square

Tigné Point on Sliema's peninsula will hold the town's largest public square, developers Midi plc said this week. Pjazza Tigné is scheduled for completion at the end of next year and will be similar to Valletta's Queen Victoria Square in size.

The pedestrianised square is to be the hub of Tigné Point and will be served by an underground network of roads, lay-bys and parking for over 2,000 cars. The Point, a mall with 50 shops and anchored by a Debenhams store, will open out onto the square, as will a development with 16,000 square metres of office space.

Midi plc CEO Ben Muscat explained: "Pjazza Tigné integrates the diverse aspects of the Tigné Point development - offices and apartments, shops and cafés, heritage and sports facilities."
