Valletta have terminated the contract of Marcelo Tolomeotti after the Brazilian striker failed to impress in the few matches he has played for the champions in this season's Premier League.

Tolomeotti was signed by the Citizens as a replacement for Argentine striker Sebastian Monesterolo, now playing for Hapoel Bnei Lod in Israel, but he failed to live up to expectations, scoring only one goal in six appearances.

Sources have told The Times that the Citizens have now revived their attempts to bring over two Nigerian players who were meant to join them for a trial in the summer but did not even get to make the trip to Malta due to visa-related problems.

The other foreign player in the City squad is Cameroon forward Njongo Doding Priso.
