The introduction of new operators in the fixed telephony sector has required a revision of the Malta Communications Authority's decision of July 2002 that Maltacom (now Go plc) should publish updated supplements to the telephone directory issued in 2004.

Communications Minister Austin Gatt, answering a parliamentary question by David Agius (PN), said the MCA would be launching consultations under the Universal Service Obligations to establish which operator should be given the onus of publishing the next directory.

In the meantime, Go is providing a free internet comprehensive service of an electronic updated version of the directory that includes access to all existent numbers, including those on the exchanges of other fixed-line telephony operators and mobile telephony.
