Speaker Louis Galea and the Nationalist Parliamentary group members, headed by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, yesterday signed the book of condolences for Labour MP Karl Chircop at the MLP headquarters in Ħamrun.

Dr Galea said that throughout Dr Chircop's ordeal, the Maltese had demonstrated their capability to appreciate the value of a politician who had lived his life in the interests of the country.

Dr Chircop's funeral will be held this morning. It will stop briefly outside the Labour headquarters at 9.15 a.m. before proceeding to Christ the King parish church in Paola, where Mass will be said at 10 a.m.
