The Electoral Commission will be accepting nominations from candidates contesting casual elections to fill the seat in the European Parliament vacated by Joseph Muscat, who has been sworn in as Opposition Leader.
Candidates who contested the June 2004 MEP elections and were not elected can post their nominations at the commission's offices in Valletta between today and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to midday, the commission said.
On October 1, Dr Muscat was sworn in as Leader of the Opposition after he stepped down as MEP. He was co-opted to the House of Representatives after MP Joseph Cuschieri gave up his seat.
