More worries for Eriksson as Mexico held by Canada

Mexico coach Sven-Goran Eriksson, already under pressure after a shock defeat in Jamaica on Saturday, ran into more problems on Wednesday when his side were held 2-2 by Canada in a World Cup qualifier.

Eriksson's team had to come from behind twice for the draw and have still not qualified for the final round of the CONCACAF zone's qualifying contest.

Mexico will need a point in Honduras next month to make sure of going through from Group Two without depending on the result of Jamaica's match at home to Canada.

Mexico, who could have qualified with a win in Jamaica, lead the group with 10 points, one ahead of Honduras and three ahead of the Reggae Boyz.

They have failed to win away from home in three attempts under Eriksson - once in a friendly and twice in the qualifiers.

Ali Gerba stunned the visitors when he caught Oswaldo Sanchez off his line to score in the 13th minute, but Mexico levelled with a deflected Carlos Salcido free-kick in the 34th.

The hosts regained the lead four minutes after half-time when Tomasz Radzinski pounced on slack defending to score from close range from Gerba's pass.

Despite looking disjointed, Mexico forced another equaliser in the 64th minute when Argentine-born Matias Vuoso connected with Giovani Dos Santos's pass.
