Contraband cigarettes seized

The police have seized some 3,000 cigarettes and arrested a 45 year-old-man who they suspect was trying to sell them without paying excise duty.

The arrest was made at Bay Square, St Paul’s Bay, after the police were tipped off about the sale of contraband cigarettes.

The cigarettes were found in a car.

Further investigations are being conducted by the Customs Enforcement Unit and Qawra police.
