The Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz has, for the second consecutive year, walked away from the World Travel Awards with the trophy of Malta's Leading Spa Resort, an achievement it even improved upon this year by adding the coveted title of Malta's Leading Resort.

The World Travel Awards were established 15 years ago and are hailed as "the Oscars of the travel industry". They constitute the most prestigious international awards programme for the industry. Its voting campaign this year reached more than 167,000 travel professionals worldwide.

Noel Attard, who was appointed general manager of the Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz on October 1, said that "we are proud to receive such prestigious awards, as they acknowledge Kempinski's achievement in placing our hotel in the position of a leader within the Maltese hospitality industry".

The five-star resort, which first opened its doors under private management in June 1999, has been part of the Kempinski group since 2001. It has since extensively upgraded its spa and other facilities and is today, not least thanks to its location amid the idyllic Gozitan countryside, an internationally renowned luxury hideaway resort. "However, we certainly value our local clientele," Mr Attard pointed out. "To that effect, we will shortly be launching our special autumn and winter offers which are designed exclusively for our Maltese clients."
