InterContinental Malta raised €4,000 for Heritage Malta during the summer through the HSBC Cares for Malta Heritage Fund.

The money is to be used for the conservation and preservation of Hagar Qim.

Guests staying at the hotel were encouraged to make a voluntary contribution of €1 per room per night to be added to their hotel bill.

“Responsible tourism means doing our bit to put something back for the preservation of sites that we have enjoyed, for future generations to enjoy them too. We are honoured to be given the opportunity to co-sponsor such an important site and to be a team player in contributing towards the conservation and enhancement of Malta's great history and heritage,” said Marco Frik, General Manager of InterContinental Malta.

Luciano Mule’ Stagno, CEO of Heritage Malta thanked Mr Frik for the hotel’s cooperation and for taking part in such initiatives.

He said that Heritage Malta was reaching out for active synergies with various entities to help in the supervision, preservation, better understanding and marketing of Malta’s historic sites
