UPDATED - Karl Chircop funeral on Saturday

The funeral of Labour MP Karl Chircop is expected to be held on Saturday in Paola, informed sources said.

The Labour MP, 43, died on Sunday after falling into a coma in early August.

Today, hundreds of people turned up at Labour Party headquarters in Ħamrun to sign the book of condolence for Dr Chircop.

Among them were President Emeritus Guido de Marco, Justice and Home Affairs Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici, the Parliamentary Secretary for Health, Joe Cassar, PN General Secretary Paul Borg Olivier and GWU General Secretary Tony Zarb.

The members of the Labour parliamentary group led by Opposition leader Joseph Muscat, were the first to sign the book yesterday

The book will remain open to the public until Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Dear Karl . May God gives you eternal rest. Sure you must be at his side by now taking care of your family in such a crutial time. May the Labour Party always be honoured with people like you, full of sprit and enthusiam to help the less fortunate. Thanks for all the good deeds you did in your short life.

I never met Dr Chircop, but I must say I always admired his charisma , for which , the Lord put his hand upon him and called him to be beside Him, and to look over his wife and children together with the maltese family, who by the look of things all had a soft spot for Karl , come blue, red or green. My Wife and myself wish to convey our condolence and deepest sorrow to Adriana, the kids and his mother, who are going through a bad patch.
