Obituary

CAMILLERI. On October 11, at Mater Dei Hospital, RITA, aged 81, widow of Anthony, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Maria and her husband Nihal Dela, Anna and her husband Charles Mercieca, Charles and his wife Sandra, Tonio and his wife Vicky, Joseph and his wife Lucienne, Simone and Andre and his wife Miriam, her grandchildren Samantha, Jeremy, Matthew and his wife Ingrid, Peter, Anthony, Alexia, Christian, Edward, Ann, Ria, James, Thomas, Peter, David, Michael and Martha, her great grandchildren Max and Jan, her brother Joe Abela and his wife Theresa, her sister Tessie, widow of Charles Chetcuti, in-laws, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.45 p.m. for St Paul Shipwrecked church, Valletta, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.15 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to charitable institutions will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Requiem Masses

Tomorrow being the 26th anniversary of the death of MARY M. D'AMATO, Masses said at St Augustine's parish church, Valletta, will be offered for the repose of her soul. The attendance of relatives and friends will be appreciated.

A Mass for the repose of the soul of FRANCIS XAVIER ZAMMIT CUTAJAR will be said by Fr Gordon Refalo tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Swatar parish church.

Lecture on Emvin Cremona

The Istituto Italiano di Cultura will be holding an illustrated public lecture by Dennis Vella entitled Emvin Cremona and Rome: A Lasting Influence, tomorrow at 6.30 p.m.

The lecture, which forms part of a busy programme of cultural activities of the Istituto, will be held at its premises in St George's Square, opposite the Palace in Valletta.

Mr Vella is a historian of 20th century art in Malta, on which he has published a number of monographic catalogues.

He also lectures on the subject at the University of Malta, is a member in the board of governors of Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti and the curator for modern and contemporary art at the National Museum of Fine Art.

Bazaar in Valletta

A bazaar in aid of the Emigrants' Commission will be held at Dar L-Emigrant, St Ursola Street, Valletta, between tomorrow and October 17 from 9.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The bazaar will also be open on October 18 from 9.30 a.m. to noon.

Concert in aid of Puttinu Cares

Żghażagh Ħaddiema Nsara are organising a concert in aid of Puttinu Cares on Friday and Saturday from 7.30 p.m. at the University of Malta's Sir Temi Zammit Hall.

The concert, entitled 'Strummin Home 007 - Sounds of the Movies', features songs from various films, including Disney classics and groundbreaking musicals.

Course for elderly in Gozo

The University for the Third Age will be holding a course for the elderly in Gozo.

Lessons will be held at the Elderly Day Care Centre at Għajnsielem and once every four weeks at the University Gozo Centre.

The course, which will run up to the last week of May, will consist of two semesters covering subjects including introduction to political science, the principle of equal treatment in community law as well as views about the monastic life.

The course will start on October 17 with Mass celebrated by Mgr Carmelo Refalo, Archpriest of Xagħra.
