President Eddie Fenech Adami will be making a state visit to Portugal between November 11-13.
The Foreign Ministry said he will be accompanied by a Maltese business delegation which will explore new opportunities for trade exchanges.
The ministry said Portugal features a number of opportunities for Maltese exporters, exemplified by precision engineering and electronic equipment for the country’s dominant automotive sector as well as equipment and software production for the Country’s growing ICT sector. Equally, Portuguese consumer markets offer specific opportunities for Maltese food products. Other sectors include franchising and pharmaceutical markets.
Foreign direct investment from Portugal typically involve enterprises in real estate and business services, financial services and manufacturing, although recent developments also suggest that energy, including renewable energies and accommodation industries, as well as ICT companies are seeking new markets in which to invest.
A seminar on ‘Doing Business with Portugal’ will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the Corinthia Palace Hotel, Attard. Interested business may book at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 22042236 or Malta Enterprise on 25423293.. Participation at the seminar is free of charge.
