The chairman of Alternattiva Demokratika Arnold Cassola and former chairman Harry Vassallo are in Paris to attend a council meeting of the European Green party.

The meeting will be held in Montreuil and will be attended by over 200 delegates from 34 member parties in 31 countries. This is the ninth council meeting of the European Greens.

Speaking about the meeting, the European Greens' co-spokesman Philippe Lamberts said the French Green party - Les Verts - was working on a coalition with ecological NGOs and civil society in order to present a common platform at the European Parliament elections next June.

The party decided to hold the meeting in Montreuil town hall because in municipal elections last March, Dominique Voynet was elected the town's first Green mayor after decades of communist administration, he said.
