BirdLife welcomes Mepa decision

BirdLife Malta has welcomed the decision by the Malta Environment Planning Authority last week to designate 11 important bird zones as special protection areas.

BirdLife Malta's executive director Tolga Temuge said the designation of the Ta' Ċenċ zone as a special area for conservation was an excellent move to safeguard wildlife and was beneficial for tourism.

"Designating ecologically-important habitats and sites in Malta as protection areas is a critical step towards providing Malta's seabirds and other wildlife with appropriate levels of legal protection" Mr Temuge said.
