A juvenile flamingo, which has been in Malta since mid-September, returned to the Għadira Nature Reserve yesterday with blood on its chest and head but the cause has still to be established.
BirdLife Malta, which has been keeping an eye on the bird, noticed that the flamingo left the reserve at 7.40 a.m. and when it returned an hour later it had blood on its chest and head.
A BirdLife spokesman said the nature of the injuries will be determined following examinations today.
The bird had left the reserve to either exercise before migrating or in an attempt to leave the island, the spokesman said.

As a hunter I condemn such illegal acts, the way I condemn other daily illegalities happening on our island, however Mr J.Borg you should not point any finger at FKNK nor at KSU, both are clear that they do not tolerate such illegalities. My point is that you can't blame anyone except the culprit, why we have always to point fingers or generalize when it concern hunting? This kind of attitude is irritating many hunters who are respecting the law. We do not say that all drivers are irresponsible including me and you, because some do not respect the traffic regulations.
IF BLM knew the time when it left the nature reserve they must have been present and could easily monitor it by a good binoculars until it leaves our shores, on the other hand if this bird flew over Malta in the peak of the hunting season and only one person shot at it, than again you should not generalize.

Let's anticipate the FKNK + KSU clan...
'It was those evil CABS and Birdlife members who shot at the flamingo and carry on their spite campaign against those poor hunters'
Yeah sure we know - thanks just the same!

In Malta the worst being that you can be is either a bird or a tree!!! I am so sorry with all the poaching that occurs in our country.....it is disgraceful to kill such beautiful animals.
