A 29-year-old Serbian motorcyclist is in a critical condition after he skidded into crash barriers on the Regional Road in Gżira yesterday morning, the police said.
The man and a 32-year-old Russian woman, who was riding pillion, were both taken to Mater Dei Hospital after the accident, which happened at about 5.45 a.m. The woman suffered slight injuries but the man is in danger, police said.
Duty Magistrate Tonio Micallef Trigona appointed experts to assist with the on-site inquiry. Police are investigating.
In the meantime, the police said that another Russian woman, who was involved in a traffic accident at Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq on October 2, had died.
The woman was in a car driven by a 19-year-old Russian man when it was involved in a head-on collision.
