Carlos explains situation
Carlos Vella, the 14-year-old boy featured last week, has said that he enjoys a healthy relationship with his natural parents.
Carlos was born with a condition which left him with a bald patch on his scalp, until he found suitable medical treatment last year. He was legally adopted by his grandparents five years ago after spending time living in an institute.
However, unlike the impression given to The Sunday Times, he does not feel that he was abandoned by his natural parents. Carlos went through three gruelling operations to gain his full head of hair, which he now proudly shows off.

Carlos, who is my son, had to spend 18 months, at an institute, for the simple reason , that when i got separated, the minister of houseing, could not give me a houseing property, so I had to work for carlos and his brother 80 to 100 hours per week, for two years so that i could buy my own property and move on, and when i bought one , i took them out and raised them all on my own, since i never got a penny from their father, i now live abroad to financially help them out, and it was carlos who deceide to live with my parents, since he wanted to go to Gzira secondary, and it as more closer to my parents , since i lived with my kids in st. pauls bay. Carlos when he was in primary st.pauls bay , he was with me and his brother after institute , i alays worked fll time for the past 9 years for my kids, and i truely adore them, and love them with all my heart. I NEVER ABANDONED THEM.
