Course on risks in the workplace
The Foundation for Human Resources Development (FHRD), in collaboration with the Institute of Health and Safety (IHS), is holding a course entitled 'Controlling risks in the workplace', conducted by Chris Hudson, on October 28, between 1.30 and 5 p.m., at IHS, 99 Mill Street, Qormi.
Recognising, evaluating, and controlling risk are essential activities for every employer, and he or she must ensure that staff know how to contribute to this process.
The course will cover key legislation related to the control of risk; the role of risk assessment in the identification and evaluation of workplace risks; a hierarchy of risk controls; achieving value and greater benefits in the control of risk; and developing a practical approach.
It is designed to help delegates develop the ability to approach the subject in a structured, logical and cost-effective manner to achieve adequate control at a minimum cost to employers.
Upon completion, participants should be able to understand the legal and practical reasons for risk assessment and the benefits that arise from them and the basic principles of risk assessment.
All working people, particularly those with an interest in the control of risk, and those who will be expected to make an active contribution to health and safety in the workplace may attend.
Bookings are to be received by October 23. For a registration form, go to http://www.fhrd.org/OHSRegistrationForm1.pdf . The course will be delivered in English.
