Man dies on Gozo dive

Notary Damian Schembri, 44, of Balzan, died after he found himself in difficulty during a dive at Dwejra in Gozo on Thursday morning, police sources said.

A postmortem examination will be held today.

The sources said that Dr Schembri was diving with an instructor when the latter realised that something was wrong with the man.

They surfaced and he was rushed to Gozo's General Hospital where he died a while after he was admitted.

Meanwhile, there is still no trace of the French diving instructor Alain Bellini, 44, who went missing while at Xlendi Bay two weeks ago.
