Young choir singers did Qala proud

I refer to Victor Grech's letter titled An Unforgettable Experience (October 4).

Truly, it was an unforgettable experience!

Having made the initial contact with the organising committee of the Malta Day UK 2008, I would like to thank all the members of this committee, chaired by Michael Refalo, Malta's High Commissioner in the UK, and coordinated by his deputy, Bernard Hamilton, for accepting my suggestion to invite the Qala Magnificat Choir.

The Qala archpriest, Canon Joseph Zammit, grabbed the opportunity and asked me to coordinate the visit to London.

Having organised his visits to Australia in 2005 and to Canada and the US last year, I accepted with enthusiasm and coordinated with Ivan Falzon of Air Malta who very efficiently made the flight and accommodation arrangements. I thank Mr Hamilton and Fr Victor Camilleri for facilitating contacts for the visit.

Fr Camilleri had to be present at the Cathedral and the following day at St James Piccadilly to truly appreciate their angelic voices. Honestly, both myself and the parents who accompanied their children had tears in our eyes. The tender age was not an issue, their beautiful voices were - they were truly magnificent!
