Sharing their burden
I cannot understand all this fuss about signing any agreement about burden sharing. We are already doing it. According to what is common knowledge most, if not all, these illegal immigrants want to go to continental Europe. By keeping them here we are relieving continental Europe of its burden.
Besides, why is it that all these NGOs that are so solicitous about the welfare of these people do not protest that we are depriving them of their human rights to live where they want by keeping them forcibly here?
All of them come from countries by far more extensive than Malta. I am sure they must be suffering from an acute sense of claustrophobia.
