Construction truck pollutes pristine Lapsi
A few days ago, I was on my final approach to Għar Lapsi for a quick swim and snorkel. I was driving my coupé and enjoying the sun. Sadly, I realised it was not my lucky day.
Suddenly, I had to take urgent evasive action, which could very well have had fatal consequences.
A huge gust of dust enveloped my car and completely blocked my vision. Instantly, I had to put the sunroof up and close the windows.
The reason was a large Polidano truck, which was right in front of my car, blocking the road and throwing up tons of blinding, offending dust towards me.
Things have not changed, have they?
Mind you, being philosophical, I reasoned that this was even a more urgent reason to have a swim, now that I was covered in dust!
What a fateful decision I made a few years ago, when in a mad moment I decided to come back home after 27 years away. Things have not changed one iota.
Law enforcement is obviously something which is foreign to the Maltese language!

Why are lorry drivers which are transporting Rocks & heavy dust, allowed to get away with covering the load with flimsy Green netting , which is certainly not sufficient to prevent stones & dust from falling off onto the roads? the loads should be covered with heavy duty canvas, which will prevent spillage.

Come on Minister, show Mr. Bencini that 'law enforcement' is in fact very much existent here in Malta, at least certain 'law enforcement' has been visible in recent weeks in certain quarters. Show us that it is well and truly ongoing. Then Mr. Bencini might appreciate that 'there is nothing better than home, in his case Malta, one presumes.
