Celebrating Wignacourt Tower

Stanley Farrugia Randon: Wignacourt Tower: 400 Years and its link with the Chapel of St Paul, self-published, 2008, 36 pp, €4

Stanley Farrugia Randon is currently warden of the Wignacourt Tower. His booklet narrates the history of the tower, also called St Paul’s Tower, as well as the chapel of St Paul nearby. These were probably the first two buildings erected in St Paul’s Bay.

On February 10, 2010, the Wignacourt Tower celebrates 400 years from when the first stone was laid. Thanks to Din l-Art Ħelwa this historic monument is still being enjoyed by Maltese and tourists.

It currently hosts an exhibition of the fortifications around our islands.

The book is on sale at major bookshops as well as from the Wignacourt Tower itself.
