Obituary

FALZON. On October 7, at Mater Dei Hospital, ALFRED, aged 63, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Margaret, his children Daniela, Graziella and Edward and his wife Sharon, his grandchildren Sara and Matthias, his mother Maria Annunziata and his mother-in-law Kate Spiteri, his brothers and sisters Carmen, Josephine, Phyllis, Paul, Saviour, Mario, Elizabeth, Lillian and their respective husbands and wives, his brother-in-law Charles and his sister-in-law Patricia and their families, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said today at 2 p.m. at St Helen's Basilica, Birkirkara, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. May God grant him eternal rest.

FENECH. On October 7, at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, JOSEPH of Gudja residing at Paola, aged 59, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Connie, his daughters Joanne and her husband Jonathan, Annabel and her husband Massimo, his grandson Kyle Jo, his brothers Andrew and Martin, his sisters Joan and Angela and their respective families, brothers and sisters-in-law and many other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Sir Paul Boffa Hospital today at 8 a.m. for Christ the King parish church, Paola, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment at Gudja Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Hospice Movement will be appreciated. The family would like to thank the staff at Ward 2, Sir Paul Boffa Hospital. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

SPITERI. On October 7, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARY JANE SPITERI, MOM, of Ħamrun, ex-headmistress at Luqa and Marsa, and ex-Principal Family Welfare Officer and co-founder of the National Council of Women, aged 86, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her brother Bro. Michael Spiteri, SJ, her sister Sr Anne Spiteri, FMM, her nephews Albert and his wife Mary Bonnici, Louis and his wife Pauline Bonnici, Joseph Bonnici, Edward and his wife Doris Bonnici, her niece Marthese and her husband John Micallef, her respective grandnephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 8 a.m. for Naxxar parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.45 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar Nazaret, Żejtun, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

VELLA. On October 7, at Mater Dei Hospital, FREDERICK of Pietà, aged 80, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church and the prayers of his loved ones. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Maria, his children Marcella, Valerio, Adriana and Federica and their respective families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2.15 p.m. for the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery chapel where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m., followed by interment. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, and the Ursuline Sisters of Sliema and Guardamangia would be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Requiem Masses

A Mass for the repose of the soul of LINA BONELLO will be celebrated today at 6.30 p.m. at Stella Maris parish church, Sliema. The attendance of relatives and friends will be greatly appreciated.

On the third anniversary of the death of violinist JAMES GRECH, a Mass for the repose of his soul will be celebrated tomorrow at 6.30 p.m. at St Joseph Institute chapel, St Venera.

Choir concert

The Għarb local council, together with the Kumitat Monument Nazzjonali Papa Ġwanni Pawlu II, will be presenting a concert by the Willington School Boys Choir from the UK on the occasion of the 30th anniversary since Pope John Paul II was elected to the Papacy and on the second anniversary of the inauguration of the monument in Victoria. The concert will be held at the church dedicated to the Visitation of Our Lady Basilica, in Għarb on October 15 at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Maltese music

Crossbreed ensemble will be playing the music of Ruben Zahra and other Maltese composers at the Sala Isouard of the Manoel Theatre, Valletta, on October 19 at 5 p.m. The ensemble is composed of Robert Calleja, flute; Lino Pirotta, clarinet; Tatjana Chircop, violin; Tricia Dawn Williams, piano and Paul Borg, tuba.

Course on St Paul

St Paul Shipwrecked parish of Valletta will be holding a catechesis course on St Paul to be conducted by Fr Marcello Ghirlando OFM.

The six sessions will be held from October 21 to November 25 at the parish church after the 6.30 p.m. Mass in October and after the 6 p.m. Mass in November. Everyone is invited to attend.
