La Salle upset Kavallieri's aim to retain the Super Cup after beating them 25-18 in the men's contest last weekend at Tal-Qroqq.

The women's clash was more eventful with La Salle beating rivals Aloysians 10-8 in a tense match.

The men's final took almost 15 minutes to take off with both sides adopting an aggressive 6/0 defence. La Salle then gained the upperhand to open an eight-goal lead by half-time as Kavallieri looked to have lost their early edge.

Chris McLean was the best player on court with 10 goals for the winners.

The women's match was characterised by the fine play of Brenda Camilleri and Stephanie Desjardins. There was little to separate the teams in the opening half but after the break La Salle opened a five-goal lead.

Aloysians changed tactics and closed the gap to two goals. However, some basic mistakes in attack left them empty-handed in the end.

Indeed, the season promises to be another fight between these two teams.
