Fluid and transparent views of bays and harbours

Joe Pace Ross is holding a solo exhibition of his paintings at Villa Gourgion, in Lija, entitled Malta: Bays And Harbours.

As the title of the exhibition indicates, the subject of the paintings is mostly the sea; calm with reflections, stormy with white horses but always fluid and transparent.

The artist's preferred medium is transparent water colours but he occasionally uses ink and acrylics to highlight certain points in some of his works.

Mr Pace Ross makes use of broad washes to depict background land, fortifications and sea craft of different sizes and times but the luzzu, with its vivid colours, features proudly in many of his paintings.

He paints the sea so frequently that he may be called a marine artist.

The exhibition will run until October 23.
