10,000 visit museums during Notte Bianca
Over 10,000 persons visited Heritage Malta museums and sites in Valletta last Saturday during Notte Bianca, when they were opened free of charge.
Heritage Malta said the most popular venue was the National Museum of Archaeology which was visited by nearly 4,000 persons. Visitors had an opportunity to handle original artefacts and learn about their uses and purpose.
The Palace Armoury was also very popular with nearly 3,500 visitors. The National Museum of Fine Arts was visited by over 1,500 persons.
The Heritage Book Fair at the Heritage Malta Head Office also proved to be a success as many took the opportunity of viewing Anthony Catania’s painting exhibition ‘The Pied Piper’ which will remain open to the public until the 19th of October.
Visitors also thronged to admire Pilar Church in West Street.

I'm not surprised so many took the opportunity to visit one or more of our prestigious museums and sites. I myself fitted in a visit to the Fine Arts Museum with my family, and was impressed. Had it not been Notte Bianca, I for one doubt I would have got round to organising such a cultural outing, unfortunately.
This was an brilliant idea and one that would surely reap rewards in the long-term if repeated in the next "Notte", since the event and free entry to museums is not only a tourist attraction in itself but also a means of promoting our heritage primarily among us locals.
Keep it up!
