Police net motorcycle thieves in Marsaxlokk
The police have arrested four youths aged between 14 and 16 on suspicion that they were involved in the theft of motorcycles and an attempted break-in in a shop in Marsaxlokk.
The case started unfolding at about midnight last night when policemen on the beat at Marsaxlokk noticed a young man driving a motorcycle without a crash helmet.
When they approached him, he dropped the motorcycle and ran. Three nearby youths also ran off when they noticed the police.
All four were arrested by the police in different streets a short while later after the Maraxlokk police were joined by officers from Birzebbuga and the mobile squad.
While running away, one of the youths was noticed dropping a bag.
Investigations showed that the first teenager to have been stopped had been driving a stolen motorcycle. It also resulted that the four had gone to Marsaxlokk on two motorcycles, one of which was stolen and the other had false number plates.
The bag dropped by one of the youths included tools and it was noticed that an attempt was made to force open a shop’s door.
The youths are all from Qormi.

What is a 14yr old doing on the streets at those times you ask? What are 12yr olds doing at night clubs in Paceville? Its a disgrace. Shame on the parents!

Sorry to say but I have a 14 year old son and a 12 year old son and niether I nor there mother leave them out at mid-night. In my opinion the parents in question of these youths also should be arrested and questioned. It very irresponable.

Job well done by our vigilant patrolling police unit....wonder whose shop or home wld have been broken into...just to call the attention of the police...there should be more patrols like this in St Paul's and Bugibba...lately one's been noticing youth gangs numbering at times 8,9,10 or more...gathering every evening in a particular area in Bugibba and later setting off in groups and always very loud...I must say I get really afraid while walking pass these unfamiliar group every evening while coming home from work or going for a walk...the police should look into this as well..hope some day we won't start experiencing gang fights on the streets as it is presently the case in the uk...

It would be interesting to have a look at the schooling record of these minors.

Our children and youths should be educated what are the consequences of their actions, especially, criminal actions like these. By doing so, these youths are ruining themselves and their reputation.
